Andrew Quin:

I graduated from Galt Collegiate as a multi-sport athlete with little knowledge of the post-secondary opportunities available to me.  I worked in a factory for almost two years prior to enrolling in a Civil Engineering Technology program at Conestoga College.  After two years of college, I attended Western Illinois University with the aid of an athletic scholarship (soccer / football), where I graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Physical Geography and Earth Sciences.  I then attended the University of Calgary where I completed a M.Sc. degree in Earth Science / Geomorphology while also competing on the varsity soccer team.  From Calgary, I headed east to the University of Waterloo where I graduated with a M.A. in Natural Resource Management (water), studying the impacts of agricultural land use on water quality in the Grand River Basin.  It was while serving as a graduate student for three years as both a researcher and teaching assistant, that I found my “passion” – teaching / guidance.  I then attended the University of Western Ontario where I  completed  a B.Ed. / OCT and subsequently began my teaching career.

With over 30 years of teaching experience, many in the Guidance Department, I bring a wealth of knowledge and insight to the post-secondary planning process.  I was responsible for the university and college portfolios at my school, created and conducted university and college application workshops, attended numerous open houses and counsellor information seminars and hosted a local University Information Program.  I also oversaw our international student program, helped many students successfully land athletic and academic scholarships in the U.S., and assisted those wishing to continue their education overseas.
