Regardless of the skilled trade desired, students must first be registered as an apprentice with the Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities.

NEW: Government of Canada – “Find Your Skilled Trade” (Including financial support)
There is good news for those interested in the skilled trades. Below is the latest information from the Federal and Provincial Governments regarding apprenticeships:
- About 700,000 skilled trade workers are expected to retire in Canada by 2028.
- The Federal Government recently announced $247 million to help create more than 25,000 apprenticeship positions in the skilled trades across Canada.
- 75,000 new apprentices will need to be hired annually over the next five years to meet the demand.
- Conestoga College in Kitchener just opened its new $110 million 322,000 sq. ft. (29,915 sq. m.) state of the art skilled trades campus in September 2022. (https://www.conestogac.on.ca/trades-and-apprenticeship)
- When fully built, it has the potential to be the largest skilled trades campus in Ontario and Canada.
